JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Physician/Registered Nurse Practitioner
REPORTS TO: Medical Director
SUPERVISES: No staff supervision
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide medical oversig ht and direct patient care for acute care detoxification program.
CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, Hourly, On Call
Wage: $200. 00 per hour (Estimated 1+ hours per day)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide comprehensive intake assessment, and to treat adult substance abuse patients in an acute, detoxification program. Conduct extensive patient evaluations including: relevant history, mental health status, and global health assessment.
- Must assess patients within 24 hours of admission.
- Provide guidance for any patients with critical conditions
- Provide on-call services to 24-hour nursing staff, as pre-arranged with Medical Director.
- Assist in training staff as needed.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND FUNCTIONS:
- Preferred Knowledge of ASAM placement criteria and DSM diagnostic criteria as it relates to chemical dependency.
- Reliable work attendance, ability to respond to after -hours emergency situations.
- Demonstrated knowledge in treating chemically dependent persons.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA and maintenance of comprehensive client records.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Computer literacy required.
- Ability to provide excellent and compassionate patient care.
- Ability to work independently.
- Work cooperatively with other agency staff and state agency representatives to create solutions to patient needs.
- Familiar with standard medical equipment, telephone, fax, copier, printer, scanner and other usual and customary medical and office equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Current Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) licensed, in good standing with the Oregon State Board of Nursing, DEA Certified.
- Certification for BLS, CPR and First Aid.
- Successfully pass criminal records check, compliant with ORS and contracting agencies.
- Knowledge of the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction.
- Basic knowledge of alcohol and drug treatment services.
- Observation and maintenance of client confidentiality and privacy laws, in accordance with HIPAA 45 CFR, and 42 CFR Part 2 Regulations, must be adhered to at all times.
- Maintain standards of ethical professional behavior as defined by the ACCBO Code of Ethics and Power House Detox standards.
- Develop and maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries with clients and staff.
- Practice a non-judgmental attitude toward individual clients and staff.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, work independently and as part of a team.
- Work in partnership with members of staff to accomplish agency and program goals and objectives.
